Individually Hand Crafted Web sites

All our web sites are designed and built in-house, tested on all browsers and validated for compliance with Web Standards. We keep up regular communication, involving you throughout the process so there's no nasty surprises.

Have a look at our work and read some of our clients comments to get a feel for what we do.

Content updating

If you need a web site you can update regularly such as a site to manage services, products, or keep in better contact with your clients, we can help with all stages of the process.

Simple static and content managed web sites

We build everything from one page mini sites to database driven multi user applications. Whatever the scale, the process is the same and starts with understanding your business and it's web needs. We find this works for our clients as they get a web site that actually works as a marketing tool.

For free and friendly advice contact us.

Price on Application

As a general rule I like to spend up to 4 days on planning and research and a week or so on wire framing, layout and detail design. The build can take 2 days to 2 weeks depending on complexity. The database dev is as long as it takes.

You should expect to employ me for between 2 and 6 weeks.

jhmdance.co.uk

web design screenshot JHM Dance and Fitness

A popular dance school in West Lothian, this web site had to reflect the young and dynamic nature of this business. Joanne's requirements were that the design was colourful, bright and cheery and that the site was easy to use. Joanne can create, edit and remove classes very easily, put up notices on the noticeboard and upload images to the gallery.

NVDC.co.uk

NVDC website screenshot

Having completed a dedicated dental architecture web site for NV Design & Construction, I was asked to provide ideas and designs for showcasing their residential work.

With the emphasis on project photography, we agreed on a letterbox content window with minimal text. Clever use of jQuery and css creates a smooth yet dynamic experience and one where project imagery really stands out.

"We have received a first class service from Sounds like Design. Tim Dyer has been creative, helpful, efficient and a good listener. He has taken our brief and responded accordingly to all the requirements on every stage of our web sites' developments."

GambiaCampaign.org

Gambia Campaign website screenshot

Alieu and the Campaign for Human Rights in The Gambia made huge headway in raising awareness of the abuse of human rights in The Gambia. After communication with several key politicians and campaign leaders, they were informed that they really required a web site

As always, I'm delighted to donate my skills for good causes, I set about designing, building and developing the database just in time for the petition signing at the Scottish Parliament.

GovanhillBaths.com

Govanhill Baths website screenshot

After an afternoon volunteering in the Govanhill Baths peace garden, I became involved with the Trust and set out working with them to renew their web site After extensive meetings involving user profiling and content organising and with ever-changing members of the web site working committee we finally got everything together to launch the new site.

" Tim Dyer at Sounds Like Design came on board with us in late 2009 and has helped (and continues to help) us develop and refine a most effective web site. It is impressive because of Tim's careful insistence on getting to know in detail what our Trust and campaign is all about and what we want and need from a web site. Impressive also because Tim's service is friendly, technically creative, supportive, highly efficient and most certainly helps to shape and promote the aims and purposes of our work. Grab this company quick if you want to promote and advertise your business, charity, work - whatever! You won't regret it for sure!"

CancerCars.co.uk

Cancer Cars website screenshot

A database of all volunteer drivers for cancer care treatment in Scotland. One of the organisers came to me to provide a very easy to use web site providing users with the ability to search for a local driving scheme. The requirement for coming up in google searches is obvious. Search engine optimisation will be an ongoing job to ensure that this facility is widely used.

" Tim produced an excellent web site for our charity, at a very reasonable price. He listened carefully to our brief and made well considered suggestions. he produced a site that was both easy for cancer sufferers to use, and simple for us (who have very basic computer skills) to maintain. He was quick to deal with any problems of queries that we had. He continues to provide IT support and regular updates on the site."

BCCQS.co.uk

BCC website screenshot

BCC got my recommendation from StudioKAP and asked for a web site redesign. The downturn across the whole of the UK building industry led BCC into wanting a no clutter/ no nonsense online solution. After realising my first attempt was not what they wanted, we started again from the managing directors concept, transposing it from napkin to web in just under a month.

GavinBrockwell.co.uk

Gavin Brockwells website

A friend of my partner required his site to do more that just offer a few photos so he asked me for my ideas. We created a welcoming and personal feel by having easily updated twitter-sized snippets of info about what Gavin was doing right now. As an online showcase, Gavin now feels great when redirecting casting agents and film/stage directors to his web site.

"Tim has given me a clean and clear web site which contains lots of accessible information for people who wish to find out about me and my work. The design clearly stands out and I have received many compliments on both the look of the web site and the ease of use. Tim was great as he listened to my ideas and wants for the web site as well as offering very perceptive comments, alterations and ideas. I am really pleased with the finished project and am proud to show it off as my advertising tool for my business. I have the web site exactly as I want it, working perfectly for all to see. I am able to simply update the web site myself when required with photos and information, so their have been no extra costs so the site is permanently up to date with the information I wish to show. Tim has always been on hand to answer questions or tweak the odd detail to the site and it's a pleasure to work with him as he is a nice guy."

NVDC-Dental.co.uk

I was asked to pitch for the coding of this site after the original developers found themselves unable to meet the deadline. After extensive meetings we agreed on a slightly refreshed design with some additional content on LDU's taking a prominent role, I got to work. A very busy two weeks working all hours led to the finished site on time and ready for the ad campaign.

StudioKAP.com

StudioKAP website screenshot

StudioKAP had a pretty clear idea of what they wanted so I let them direct the design whilst I advised on usability and the practical integration of design elements. The new site is fully content manageable which allows KAP to update their site news, projects and staff content in minutes. In the first few months, visitor numbers are already up 100%.

"studioKAP architects launched a new web site in March 2010 which has been  comprehensively redesigned with Tim Dyer of Sounds like Design. Tim spent 6 months working with us; both critiquing our existing web site as well as making proposals for a new site. The process involved extensive discussions and presentations with the three studioKAP directors to both establish the overall ‘look’ for the new site as well as the means of its construction and navigation. Tim’s ability to make proposals as well his willingness to take on board our own ideas and suggestions allowed us to work very effectively together and we think that the compliments that have since been paid to us on its overall design are very much down to the nature of the working relationship that Tim helped establish. It has been very easy to work creatively with Tim as his overall manner is calm, encouraging and professional. We have no hesitation in recommending him to other companies."

The complete build from no design to content management system (CMS) web site David gave me free rein on the initial design and with only a few changes we were both happy with the result. A complete design including logo and colour schemes. When Chris Campion asked me to build him a web site for his holiday let company he gave me a photograph of the Edinburgh skyline as a starting point. The design progressed from there through various versions before we agreed on this one. A neat JavaScript carousel brings the browsing experience to life.

TicklesandTrouble.co.uk

Tickles and Trouble website screenshot

When Tickles the Clown found Trouble the Clown a dynamic duo was born and the ultimate children's party organisers got busy with marketing their entertainment services. I was approached to provide a web site that would fit with their existing brand; the artwork, by a friend of the clowns, was already being used on printed material. The JavaScript on the expanding scroll maintains the sense of fun and bright simplicity.
